In the United States, the #government pays phone companies directly to record and collect cellular communications from specified individuals. U.S. #lawenforcement #agencies can also legally track the movements of people from their mobile phone signals upon obtaining a court order to do so. the government can collect the web browsing and internet searches of Americans without a warrant under Section 215. But, so far, there is no explicit Congressional authorization for the government to do that. The #McConnellamendment would, for the first time, provide that authorization.
