One of those branches is haplogroup X, which traces back to a woman who lived approximately 32,000 years ago. Her descendants spread dramatically through most of Eurasia after the glaciers receded at the end of the Ice Age around 15,000 years ago, scattering the haplogroup from northern Africa and western Europe all the way to North America.
