Energy waves, primarily electromagnetic fields (EMFs) and ionizing radiation, can cause harmful effects ranging from tissue heating and neurological symptoms to DNA damage and cancer. High-energy (ionizing) radiation directly damages cells, while non-ionizing radiation (like radiofrequency) may cause oxidative stress, sleep disruption, and, for some, electromagnetic hypersensitivity.

Key Harmful Effects of Energy Waves:

  • Ionizing Radiation (X-rays, Gamma rays, UV):Damages DNA, causes genetic mutations, and leads to cancer.
  • Non-Ionizing Radiation (RF/Microwaves – phones, Wi-Fi):
    • Tissue Heating: High-intensity radio waves can burn tissues or damage eyes.
    • Neurological/Physical Symptoms: Long-term exposure is linked to headaches, fatigue, dizziness, sleep disruptions, and brain fog.
    • Long-Term Health Risks: Possible carcinogen (classified 2B by IARC), potential fertility issues, and increased oxidative stress.
  • Extremely Low Frequency (ELF) Radiation: While less likely to damage DNA, high levels are linked to possible childhood leukemia.

Symptoms of Exposure (Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity):

  • Dermatological: Tingling, burning sensations, and redness.
  • Neurasthenic/Vegetative: Fatigue, memory loss, dizziness, heart palpitations, and nausea.

Susceptible Populations:

  • Children: They may absorb more EMFs due to developing nervous systems.

Mitigation Strategies:

  • Increase distance from, and reduce time spent near, electrical devices.
  • Turn off Wi-Fi routers and mobile devices when not in use.
