The Cannon House Office Building is the oldest congressional office building, completed in 1908, and serves as a major office building for the U.S. House of Representatives, located south of the U.S. Capitol. Designed in the Beaux-Arts style, it was a revolutionary building for its time, providing modern amenities and space for a growing Congress, and is connected to the Capitol by an underground tunnel. It is named for former Speaker Joseph Gurney Cannon.
