Michael

Archangel Michael is the premier heavenly warrior, leader of God’s armies, and a revered figure of protection in Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. Known as a “chief prince” (Daniel 10:13) and “Who is like God?”, he defeats Satan in Revelation 12, guards God’s people, defends souls, and is often depicted with a sword or shield. 

Roles and Significance

  • Christianity: Regarded as a saint, protector of the Church, and warrior against evil. He is considered the guardian of souls, particularly at the hour of death, and will defeat Satan at the end of time.
  • Judaism: Identified as a “great prince” and guardian of Israel. He is seen as a heavenly mediator and protector of God’s chosen people in the Book of Daniel.
  • Islam: Known as Mīkāʾīl, he is one of the four archangels, an angel of mercy who provides nourishment and blessings to humanity.
  • Powers & Attributes: Michael is considered to possess immense strength, invulnerability, and leadership, acting as the ultimate defender in spiritual battles and a source of courage. 

Biblical and Scriptural Mentions

  • Revelation 12:7-9: Leads angels in the war against the dragon (Satan), casting him out of heaven.
  • Daniel 10-12: Described as a “prince” who protects the people of Israel.
  • Jude 1:9: Mentions Michael disputing with the devil over the body of Moses. 

Symbolism and Imagery
Often portrayed in armor, with wings, wielding a sword, and standing over a defeated demon, Michael symbolizes justice, strength, and the victory of good over evil.
