The grimoires describes a complicated procedure of fasting and cleansing and making fresh materials, including various amulets and talismans with planetary symbols, divine names, and demonic sigils. This would be followed by drawing a detailed magic circle, and speaking many long evocations to call the demon up and bind it to one’s will:

Included are various equally-long threats to force the spirit into the deepest pits of hellfire if it refuses to comply.

The book was written centuries after Solomon was supposed to have lived, so it probably isn’t authentic. By now, it’s become a tradition unto itself.
